Publication Policy
The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal published online under a continuous publication model. The journal applies a double-blind peer review process and publishes original scientific studies in the fields of developmental and clinical child and adolescent psychology covering the 0–29 age range. The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English.

Open Access Policy

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology is a fully open access journal. All articles are made immediately and permanently available online free of charge upon publication. The journal does not charge any subscription fees or access fees to readers or institutions.

All published content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original author(s) and the source are properly cited.

The journal supports the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and is committed to the unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge to the global research community.

Evaluation and Peer Review Process

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology operates a double-blind peer review system. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are first subjected to a preliminary editorial evaluation in which the similarity rate is checked using Turnitin, together with the formal features and required submission files. Manuscripts that pass this stage are assigned to a section editor according to the subject area. The section editor evaluates the manuscript’s suitability to the aims and scope of the journal, publication quality, ethical considerations, originality, and contribution to the scientific literature and practice.

Manuscripts that meet the journal’s editorial criteria are sent to at least two independent reviewers from different institutions who are experts in the relevant field. Both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout the review process. Based on the reviewers’ reports and the section editor’s assessment, one of the following editorial decisions is made: accept, revision, or reject.

Where reviewer reports do not provide a sufficient basis for decision-making, the section editor may assign additional reviewers. If one reviewer recommends rejection, a third reviewer may be appointed. If all reviewers recommend rejection, the manuscript is rejected. Manuscripts receiving a revision decision are returned to the author(s), who are expected to submit a revised version within the specified period. Where necessary, revised manuscripts may be sent back to the reviewers for a further round of evaluation.

Plagiarism Screening

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology routinely screens all submitted manuscripts for plagiarism and similarity before peer review. Each submission is checked using Turnitin plagiarism detection software during the initial editorial evaluation process.

Manuscripts suspected of plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, inappropriate citation practices, or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected at any stage of the review or publication process. In handling all cases of suspected misconduct, the journal follows the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Acceptance and Publication Process

At the end of the evaluation process, a manuscript that receives acceptance from at least two reviewers is accepted with the final approval of the section editor. Accepted manuscripts are sent to language editors for Turkish and English language checks. Manuscripts that pass this stage are prepared for publication by the layout team and sent to the author(s) for final proofreading.

After publication approval is received from the author(s), the article is published on the journal website as an early view article. It is also published in the planned issue of the journal. The issue in which accepted articles will appear is determined by the editorial board, taking into account the submission and acceptance dates. The order of articles within the journal is also arranged by the editorial board with due regard to subject areas and coherence.

Publication Frequency

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology is published throughout the year within the framework of the continuous publication model.

Publication Language

The journal publishes articles in two languages: Turkish and English. Authors may submit their manuscripts in Turkish or English. However, accepted Turkish manuscripts must include an extended English abstract. This approach aims to increase the journal’s reach to both national and international academic communities and to ensure that scientific knowledge reaches wider audiences.

Fee Policy

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology is a fully open access journal and does not charge any fees at any stage of the publication process. No fee is charged for manuscript submission, editorial evaluation, peer review, language editing, technical processing, or publication. Authors are not required to pay any article processing charge (APC), page fee, or any other fee for the publication of their manuscripts.

Copyright

Author(s) retain the copyright of their published articles. By submitting their work, authors grant the journal the right of first publication.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows third parties to share and adapt the work for any purpose, even commercially, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source.

The journal does not impose any restrictions on authors’ rights to reuse their own work.
