Submission File Samples

Below are the draft templates that you can use during the submission and revision stages. It is recommended that you prepare your submission files using these templates.

  1. Title Page (required at initial submission)
  2. Full Manuscript (required at all stages)
  3. Cover Letter (optional)
  4. Revision Response Letter (required during the revision process)

Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Child and Youth Psychology should be written in academic, fluent, and clear Turkish or English. Articles must be prepared in accordance with the guidelines outlined below and submitted online via https://cgpd.ejournal.gen.tr/. Article Types

  • Research Articles: These include new empirical findings or conceptual analyses that make significant and/or innovative theoretical contributions to the field of child and youth psychology. Research articles should not exceed 10,000 words (including references, tables, and figures). The total number of references should not exceed 60. Abstracts must be between 150–250 words and include 4–6 keywords.
  • Review Articles: These may include meta-analyses or conceptual works providing new theoretical insights into the field of child and youth psychology. To be considered for publication, review articles must go beyond summarizing the existing literature and offer new interpretations or perspectives. Review articles are limited to 10,000 words (including references, tables, and figures), and references should not exceed 60. Abstracts must be 150–250 words and include 4–6 keywords.

Formatting Guidelines

Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word, using Calibri, 12-point font size, double spacing, and 2.5 cm margins on all sides, with left alignment. Paragraphs should be indented 1.25 cm without additional spacing between paragraphs. Tables, figures, graphs, and similar visual elements should be placed within the text at appropriate locations and must fit within the page layout of the journal.

Submission Files

For manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Child and Youth Psychology, both a title page (including author information) and a manuscript file (with all author information removed) are mandatory. In addition, authors may optionally upload other files such as a cover letter, ethics committee approval document, and data file. The draft templates for the title page and manuscript file to be used during submission are provided below. Preparing and uploading your manuscript using these templates is highly important for ensuring consistency and efficiency in the evaluation process.

Title Page

  • The title page must include the following information:
    Full title of the manuscript
  • Authors’ full names
  • Authors’ institutional affiliations and ORCID IDs
  • Corresponding author’s email address
  • Funding statement — e.g., “This study was funded by [organization name].” or “This study received no financial support from any institution or organization.”
  • Conflict of interest statement — e.g., “The author(s) declare no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.”
  • Data availability statement — e.g., “Data used in this study can be shared with researchers upon reasonable request, in accordance with research ethics principles.”
  • Author contribution statement — e.g., “This study was conducted through the joint contributions of both authors, who collaborated at all stages of the research.”
  • Ethics statement — e.g., “The study protocol was approved by the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee of XXX University (Date: XX/XX/XXXX; Reference No: XXX). The study was conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments.”
  • Informed consent statement — e.g., “Informed consent was obtained from all participants included in the study.”
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable) — e.g., “We would like to thank all participants and the developers of the assessment tools used in this study.”
  • Note (if applicable) — e.g., “This study is derived from the master’s thesis titled ‘XXX’ and was also presented as an oral paper at the XXX Congress held on October 17–19, 2024.”

Manuscript File Structure

  • The manuscript file should be organized under the following headings:
    Title – concise and informative
  • Abstract – 150–200 words
  • Keywords – 3–5 relevant terms
  • Introduction – state the study’s objectives and provide sufficient background without excessive literature review or result summaries
  • Method – provide enough detail to allow replication by another researcher
  • Results – present findings clearly and concisely, following the APA Publication Manual (7th edition) guidelines
  • Discussion – interpret findings in relation to current and relevant literature, emphasize the significance of the study, state limitations, and provide recommendations for future research
  • References – prepared according to APA 7th edition style

Reference Style

All in-text citations and reference lists must follow APA 7th Edition rules. Examples of different reference types are provided below. For more detailed information, please visit the APA Style website.
