Open Access Policy

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are made permanently and freely available online from the moment of publication, without subscription or access fees.

The journal adopts the open-access approach set forth by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and supports the widest possible accessibility of scholarly knowledge.

Articles published in the journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users may share, reproduce, redistribute, adapt, and reuse the content for any purpose, provided that appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated.

Evaluation and Peer-Review Process

The journal applies a double-blind peer-review model. Under this model, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the review process.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal first undergo an editorial screening. At this stage, the manuscript is assessed in terms of:

  • alignment with the journal's aims and scope,
  • scientific and academic quality,
  • basic methodological adequacy,
  • compliance with writing and formatting requirements,
  • compliance with ethical principles, and
  • text similarity.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an editor with relevant subject expertise and are submitted for evaluation by at least two independent reviewers.

Based on reviewer comments, authors may be asked to revise the manuscript or provide additional clarification. If reviewer opinions differ substantially, the manuscript may be sent to an additional reviewer.

Reviewer reports are an important component of the editorial decision; however, the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection rests with the responsible editor.

Plagiarism and Text Similarity Screening

Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be screened for text similarity using Turnitin before peer review.

The overall similarity percentage shown in a similarity report is not used on its own as an indicator of plagiarism or as an automatic acceptance/rejection criterion. The source, nature, extent, and proper attribution of the identified similarities are assessed editorially.

If plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication or falsification of data, or other breaches of research and publication ethics are detected, the manuscript may be rejected at any stage of the evaluation process. Ethical concerns related to published articles are handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and post-publication correction policies.

Acceptance and Publication Process

After peer review and all required revisions have been completed, the manuscript is reassessed by the responsible editor.

Accepted manuscripts undergo:

  1. editorial and technical checks,
  2. language and copyediting where necessary,
  3. typesetting and layout, and
  4. final author proofing.

The manuscript is then prepared for publication.

The final typeset version may be sent to the corresponding author for a final check before publication. At this stage, corrections are generally limited to typesetting, language, or production-related errors rather than substantial changes to the scientific content.

Publication Frequency and Continuous Publication Model

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology follows a continuous publication model.

Articles whose editorial and production processes have been completed may be published online without waiting for all articles in an issue to be finalized. This model is intended to make completed scholarly work available to readers more rapidly.

Publication Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in Turkish or English.

Authors are expected to provide the bibliographic metadata and abstract information required by the journal in both Turkish and English.

Fee Policy

The Journal of Child and Youth Psychology charges no fees to authors or readers.

The journal does not charge:

  • submission fees,
  • review fees,
  • article processing charges (APCs),
  • acceptance fees,
  • publication fees, or
  • access/subscription fees.

Editorial decisions are made independently of any payment or financial contribution.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their published work.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. When an article is reused, appropriate credit must be given to the author(s) and the original publication, the license information must be provided, and any changes made to the content must be clearly indicated.

Appeals

Authors may submit scientifically reasoned appeals concerning editorial decisions or the evaluation process to the journal's editorial office.

Appeals are expected to include specific grounds concerning the decision in question. Where possible, appeals are evaluated independently of individuals who may have a conflict of interest in the original decision-making process.

Submission of an appeal does not automatically result in a change of decision or require the manuscript to undergo a new round of peer review.
